Youth Leading the Way

In today's fast-paced world, youth voices or input are often left out of the decision-making conversations. Especially when those conversations are about the youth! So, MIM took the opportunity to invite three youth to participate and travel to a national conference for Association of American Indian Physicians and health professionals in Seattle, WA.

Three brilliant, intelligent, and vocal Native American Indian young females represented New Mexico and their tribal communities, families, and self. They showcased their 'health topic' of concern and spoke about the approaches of adults working with youth; including youth in leadership roles, youth in meetings, youth presenting to tribal council, and youth presenting their ideas or knowledge.

Upon returning from Seattle, WA, they were invited to present a workshop at the 4th Annual Urban Indigenous Education Summit in Albuquerque, NM!
